Submitting your application

1. Get your documents ready to upload

You’ll need digital copies of all your documents. You’ll need to scan any paper documents into an electronic format before you begin.

2. Click start new application

You’ll need to create a login for the portal. Keep a record of this so you can access your application again in the future.

Complete all the mandatory fields and click save and next at the end of each page. If a section doesn’t apply to you, click ‘no’. If you click ‘no’ to some sections it might mean you’re not eligible to apply and your application will automatically be unsuccessful.

3. Select your preferred locations

You can select up to 3 preferred locations from our participating sites. Number your preference 1 to 3, from most preferred to least preferred. It’s best if you select preferences from different HHSs if possible.

4. Add referee details

Add details of your referees. Be careful to avoid mistakes in the email address and phone numbers. Try to avoid using personal email addresses for your referees.

Your referees won’t be contacted automatically. They’ll be contacted directly by the relevant HHS.

5. Submit your application

When you’re ready, click ‘submit application now’ at the top of the page. You can then choose to ‘submit now’ or ‘submit later’. If you choose to submit later your application will be stored in the system until you’re ready. If you do that you’ll need to log back in and click ‘submit now’ to complete your application.

Making changes to your application

You can make changes to your application up until the campaign closing date. You’ll need to:

  • log in to the application portal
  • click ‘edit application’
  • scroll down to the step you need to edit
  • make your changes
  • click save and continue to update the information.

Once the closing date passes, you can only make changes to:

  • personal details
  • CV attachment
  • vaccine evidence
  • certification copies
  • referee details.

To do this, log in to your account and click ‘edit personal details’.

Late applications

We don’t usually accept late applications.

It’s sometimes possible if interviews haven’t started yet. It’ll be up to the SEM site you’re applying to.

Contact us to talk about your circumstances.

Withdrawing your application

You can withdraw your application at any time. Log in to the portal, click ‘view application summary’ and then click ‘withdraw application’.

If you withdraw your application and want to change your mind, you’ll need to email OfficeofRuralHealth@health.qld.gov.au.

Interviews

SEM sites will contact you directly to arrange an interview. If you haven’t heard anything by mid-August you should get in touch with your preferred HHS to find out the progress of your application.

SEM opportunities for unsuccessful candidates

If you aren’t offered a place at your chosen HHS there may be other opportunities. HHS will review all remaining applications if:

  • they didn’t have enough applicants
  • they have a new vacancy.

You might also be contacted by the SEM team if there are vacancies available at other sites you haven’t listed as your preference.
