Mental health and wellbeing support services for our medical workforce
We support our medical workforce through a range of service providers. Each one offers different types of support to help
Employee Assistance Services (EAS)
The EAS offer free and confidential support for all our staff. They can help with a range of personal and professional issues, including relationship or financial challenges, critical incident support and resources to support your wellbeing.
For Queensland Health staff
The EAS offer phone, video and in person sessions and are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinicians
The EAS support clinicians who identify as a First Nations person, or who are working with Mob in the city and remote communities.
Our support line provides a safe space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are valued, respected and understood. You’ll see a clinician who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or one with cultural awareness and experience supporting Indigenous communities.

Queensland Health Medical Workforce Wellbeing Reference Group
Our wellbeing reference group is dedicated to creating a positive workplace culture and developing organisational solutions to support our staff.
We provide resources to support your emotional, physical and workplace health on our Employee Wellbeing intranet page.
Chaired by the Chief Medical Officer, members include representatives from across Queensland Health, and external organisations.

Medical Education Advisory Group (MEAG)
The MEAG was established in April 2025 and replaces the DCT/MEO Forum Executive Committee. It’s a reference group to the Prevocational Medical Accreditation Queensland (PMAQ) Accreditation Committee. They provide advice and guidance on the implementation and operationalisation of prevocational medical accreditation and other relevant matters in Queensland.
Members have prevocational medical education expertise, with responsibilities for the oversight or management of accredited prevocational medical training programs in Queensland.

Doctors Health Services (Drs4Drs)
Drs4Drs offer free and confidential phone counselling support for doctors and medical students. You’ll talk to a doctor who understands the challenges and unique needs of medical staff. They also offer a range of resources, tools, and information. Call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or visit the website for more information.

Black Dog Institute
The Black Dog Institute offers a range of resources designed for health professionals, including up to 5 free sessions with a psychologist or psychiatrist. Visit the website to find support and resources.

The Ethi-call helpline offers free and impartial ethics guidance from trained counsellors. Visit the website to make a booking.

Hand-n-Hand Peer Support
Hand-n-Hand offer free and confidential peer support for health professionals, care staff and non-clinical staff. They will match you with a peer support volunteer from a similar field and level of training once you sign up.

Doctors’ Health in Queensland health professional search portal
Use the directory to find your nearest GP, psychiatrist or psychologist who offer priority appointments for doctors and medical students.

CRANAPlus
CRANAPlus offer free and confidential phone support service for rural and remote health workers and their families. Call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Mind(re)set online training
Mind(re)set is a self-paced, online program for junior doctors, focused on improving mental health and mitigating burnout. You can access the program through iLearn.

Medical Education Units (MEU)
The MEU works with Queensland hospitals to provide education, support, and resources for students, graduates and new interns. Contact the MEU at the hospital you’ll be working at.

Prevocational Medical Accreditation Queensland (PMAQ)
The PMAQ supports quality prevocational education and training, supervision and welfare of prevocational trainees. If you’d like more information, you can email PMAQ.

Junior Medical Officer Forum of Queensland (JMOFQ)
The JMOFQ is part of the PMAQ. It provides a forum for junior medical officers to discuss how their training is developed, implemented, evaluated and improved. For more information, you can email JMOFQ.

Medi-Nav is a career resource platform. It offers tools and guidance for doctors, medical graduates and junior doctors to plan their professional development and explore career options.
Medical indemnity providers
The following medical indemnity providers offer medicolegal advice, including help with professional issues, clinical incidents and complaints. They also offer risk management, education and comprehensive support to manage claims and guide doctors through the legal processes involved.
