[Text on screen] Why apply? Hear from our trainees...

[Text on screen] Teneal
Principal House Officer - Gatton

Dr Teneal Britton: The support I've had through my coordinator has been incredible. She's helped me with each of our meetings and sometimes I will meet with her outside of the designated time to try and help me make decisions.

At times through internship and my JHO year when I was incredibly confused about where to go from here, they were always supportive and had the answers that I needed.

[Text on screen] Disha
Senior Medical Officer (Provisional Fellow)/GP Registrar - Proserpine/Airlie Beach

Dr Disha Katiyar: There are not many other states that make the pathway so streamlined and so supportive. You get a network of colleagues that you know, so you know people in other places that then you get to meet at conferences like RDAQ every year.

[Text on screen] Tom
Principal House Officer - Toowoomba

Dr Tom Kidston: When I first started working I found it all very, very complicated in terms of ballots and finding jobs and when to start training and when to start accredited training and applying for ASTs - how, when, where. The QRGP was pretty much my go to resource to try and navigate through all of that.

[Text on screen] Elli
Junior House Officer - Toowoomba

Dr Elli Harford: I think to other doctors considering a path in rural generalism, I would highly encourage it. It's so flexible. There's so many different opportunities and avenues and you can really make the career your own.

[Text on screen] Rob
Principal House Officer - Townsville

Dr Rob Watt:  I think it's an excellent source of independent advice for your career. Whether that just be career planning or more logistical issues or dealing with tough cases.

Sometimes you need people outside of your clinical, your immediate clinical context and that's something that QRGP does very well - links you in with a well experienced clinician that can help you guide, guide you through those processes.

[Text on screen] Monty
Principal House Officer - Cairns

Dr Monty Chugg: One of my favourite things has been that every year, for the first couple of years of your journey as a doctor, you get to do a workshop where you get to touch on some skills that honestly I hadn't had a chance to do it any point in my career like chest drains, like managing a shoulder dystocia.

I'm nowhere near those problems usually as a junior, and so these workshops help me kind of get hands-on, feel not so scared for when that time comes I am the only doctor in a community that can perform these skills.

[Text on screen] Damien
Principal House Officer - Townsville

Dr Damien Messmer: I joined QRGP as an intern in, a couple years ago, and the people that I've met along the way have all been so helpful and have really allowed me to sort of progress through my career at a rate that I would not have been able to otherwise.

[Text on screen] Grace
Principal House Officer - Thursday Island

Dr Grace Hocking: I would say come and join the family that is rural medicine. It's so supported. There are so many wonderful opportunities within the career of medicine and also within the joy of creating a life for yourself that you'll really love.
