What we offer
Our Prosthetics and Orthotics Scholarship will help you finish your study and kickstart your career.
The scholarship offers:
- $21,000 in financial support during your final academic year of undergraduate study, paid each fortnight from the start of the academic year
- paid employment as a health practitioner level 3 (HP3) at a tertiary hospital in Brisbane when you graduate with an approved degree in prosthetics and orthotics.
You may need to pay income tax on the $21,000 financial support. It’s a good idea to get financial advice and to check with Centrelink about how this could affect your finances.
Working with us
You’ll need to work with us for at least 18 months when you graduate, as a return of service period.
We offer graduate jobs at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. This tertiary hospital support patients across Queensland through a wide range of health services and modes of care.
You may work in teams across a range of clinical practice areas, including:
- rehabilitation for patients following a stroke or amputation caused by disease or injury
- high risk foot conditions
- orthopaedics
- neurology
- plastic surgery
- brain and spinal injury.
You'll get support, mentoring and the chance to grow your skills and build a solid foundation for your career.
You'll need to show proof you’ve had the vaccines you need to work with us to protect patients, staff and the community against vaccine preventable diseases.
Who can apply
You must be studying a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics at the University of the Sunshine Coast or La Trobe University.
You must also:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident
- be a full time domestic student
- be starting the last year of your degree, with plans to graduate that year.

If you’re successful, we'll send you a letter of offer and scholarship agreement.
