Cardiology Advanced Training in Queensland is entered into via a centralised Statewide recruitment process. Senior Cardiology Clinicians from each of the Queensland tertiary hospitals with advanced training accredited positions, support the selection process.

For the RMO campaign 2026,  The Prince Charles Hospital will this year be advertising and recruiting their Cardiology AT positions separate to the Cardiology AT Network Pathway. Learn more about the TPCH process.

During the training, you’ll be an advanced trainee of the RACP and do the following at your hospital:

  • provide high quality inpatient and outpatient medical services within the cardiology department
  • provide high quality consultative services to other departments
  • support the professional development of junior medical staff.

You may also:

  • work on an after hours roster
  • undertake a research project
  • rotate between more than one hospital
  • provide outreach services Complete your training according to the guidelines of the RACP and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ).

Interviews and selection

The recruitment and selection process complies with relevant Queensland Health human resource policies including the principles of equal employment opportunity. The Oversight Committee reviews all applications to the pathway. The committee carefully scrutinises such matters as employment history, cardiology exposure, referee reports, interpersonal skills, teamwork capacity, research performance, higher degree attainment and community contribution to determine eligibility and suitability of applicants for appointment to pathway positions within Queensland Health.

Following shortlisting, the selection process will include a formal panel interview with Senior Cardiology Clinicians from training centres around the state along with a Senior Administrative expert. Positions will be allocated according to performance during interviews and the overall strength of the candidate’s application.
