Visa requirements

Individuals who are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen, will require a visa to work. There are a range of permanent and temporary visa options for doctors, some which are employer-sponsored.

Registration in Queensland

You must be registered with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) to work as a doctor in Queensland Health.

There are different ways to get your registration, and you’ll need to meet the MBA registration standards for your qualification.

Our hospital and health services (HHS) can help you with the registration process and support you while you work towards your general or specialist registration.

Workplace based training

If you’re following the MBA standard pathway you may be able to do your clinical assessment while working with us, instead of undertaking the AMC clinical examination.
