Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker, Cairns

Transcript for Josh's healthy move

[Peaceful piano music plays in the background]

>> Josh:

Cairns is surrounded by pristine natural beauty. I love to go down to the beautiful fresh water creeks, have a swim, have a fish, just sit back, relax and unwind. Cairns is full of places like this.

My dad is Aboriginal and my mum is a Torres Strait Islander and I’m proud to be both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

The work that I do is about building rapport and trust and making myself more accountable to my community. I love helping my people. It makes me feel great about myself.

Queensland Health has helped me so much with my personal career development. There has never been a barrier to my growth, only opportunities.

I couldn’t think of a better place to raise my family than in Cairns. It’s just such an incredible laid-back lifestyle. I truly believe that this place is the best place in the work to live, to work and to raise a family and I feel incredibly lucky.
