Your role as a technology officer

As a technology officer, you'll make sure our staff can use our computers and digital systems.

This includes:

  • setting up work computers, software and passwords
  • troubleshooting and fixing technical issues
  • providing high quality service and support.

We have full time and temporary roles.

What your day might look like

Technology officers are often the first point of contact for IT help and support. You’ll start your day by checking in with your team and doing any urgent support jobs.

A big part of your job will be talking to staff to find out what support they need. If you work on our service desk, you’ll take phone calls, video calls, and reply to emails and web chats with doctors, nurses and other staff across Queensland.

You’ll offer basic support with things like:

  • using medical devices, computers, mobile screens, pagers and printers
  • logging into computers and systems
  • using new computer programs
  • phone and videoconferencing
  • ordering new devices.

You’ll also keep detailed notes about the support you give to help us monitor and track our performance.

If you're in a higher level role, you'll spend more time working with people on site in our hospitals and offices. In senior roles you’ll be working on complex problems and might look after ICT systems, services, networks and help guides.
