Before you can apply for the program, you must submit an expression of interest (EOI) and nominate your referees. This helps us collect referee reports before you apply.

1. Express your interest
Open our EOI application form in the Queensland Health Careers Portal. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to make one. Fill in the form with your contact details.
EOI applications opened on 27 July 2026 and will close on 2 September 2026.
2. Check your email for a referee nomination request email
We’ll email you the link to our referee nomination form. You might need to wait a few hours or check your junk folder. Don’t create a new EOI, contact our team if you don’t get the email.
3. Supply referee details
Fill in the referee nomination form with details for 2 professional referees:
- full name
- daytime phone number
- email address
- street address for work or business.
Who can be your referee
Your referees can be educators or registered nurses or midwives who have supervised you through your placement period. They can also be registered nurses or midwives who supervise you in a working relationship, such as your nurse unit manager or midwife unit manager. They should be able to tell us about your recent clinical practice.
Make sure you ask them about being a referee and explain what they need to do.
What referees must do
We’ll email your referees a secure link where they can fill in a report about you. They’ll get the email within a few hours of you submitting the form.
Both referees must complete their reports before you can apply for the program. We’ll email you every day with the status of your referee reports. These emails will start 2 business days after you send us your referees.
If your referee status shows ‘opt out’, you’ll need to choose another referee. Click the email link to update your referee details online.
What happens next
When we have your 2 referee reports, and the application period is open, we’ll email you a link to our application form. This usually happens within 3 days of your referees completing the reports.
