Offers

Round 1 Offers: Applicant Group A (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Intern Allocation Initiative and Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway applicants)

Group A applicants are medical graduates of Queensland universities who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents and either:

• are seeking an internship commencing in the year of, or immediately following graduation; or
• have received Review Committee approval from a previous campaign to defer commencement of internship.
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Intern Allocation Initiative and Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway applicants are either Group A or B applicants.

General intern applicants

Wednesday 15 July 2026 - we send offers to successful applicants by email.

By Friday 17 July 2026 - if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline your offer.

Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway applicants

Monday 13 July 2026 - we send offers to successful applicants by email.

By Wednesday 15 July 2026 - if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline your offer.

Round 2 Offers: (first preferences only) and re-preference round: Applicant Groups B to D

You’re an applicant in these groups if you aren’t graduates of Queensland universities who are Australian or New Zealand citizens, or Australian permanent residents. Find out more about group B to D applicant criteria.

Between 5pm, Friday 17 July and 5pm, Sunday 19 July 2026 - you’ll have the opportunity to make changes to your preferences to the remaining vacancies.

Between Monday 20 July and Thursday 30 July 2026 – we’ll contact successful applicants, make a verbal offer and release formal offers through the online application portal. if you got an offer, you need to accept or decline it within 48 hours of receiving it through the online application portal.

Open Round: Remaining B to D applicants (any preference)

If we don’t fill all the positions in the previous rounds, we have an open round for applicants who haven’t received an offer.

If you’re successful, we’ll contact you from Monday 17 August 2026. You’ll have 48 hours from the date of the offer to accept or decline it through the online application portal.

Late vacancy management process (LVMP)

If we haven’t contacted you with an offer in the previous rounds, we’ll contact you to ask if you’re still interested. This will happen from Monday 2 November 2026.

If you’re still interested and are successful, we’ll contact you to make an offer. This will occur from Monday 9 November 2026 to Friday 19 March 2027. You’ll have 48 hours from the date of the offer to accept or decline it through the online application portal.

Term dates

Before you can start your placement, you’ll need to take part in a paid orientation. To find out about duration and dates, you’ll need to contact the hospital you’ll be doing your internship with.

2026 term dates

Our intern program runs for 52 weeks from Monday 19 January 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027.

2027 term dates

Our intern program runs for 53 weeks from Monday 18 January 2027 to Sunday 23 January 2028.

2028 term dates

Our intern program runs for 52 weeks from Monday 24 January 2028 to Sunday 21 January 2029.
